3 German and 3 Ukrainian artists will collaborate in Lviv and in Berlin. In the program – art workshops by theatre professionals, brunch talks, intercultural exchanges of experience, and creating a unique project during the residence.
When?
1-5 of September – Lviv
13-17 of September – Berlin
Please, apply if:
– you are 21-45 y.o.;
– you’re interested in theatre and would like to implement your ideas;
– you have experience as an actor, director, composer, musician, scenery artist, light artist, and others;
– you have basic skills in English;
– you don’t have to stay in quarantine (or will not have to stay in quarantine if you will be vaccinated before 2.09).

The project is implemented by the `Culture for Change` program with the support of the `Ukrainian Cultural Foundation` (Kyiv, Ukraine) and the Foundation `Memory, Responsibility and Future` (EVZ) (Berlin, Germany).
Residency theme: „Identity“.
In pandemic times, the question of self-identification as part of society became more relevant. Thanks to the weakening of the quarantine restrictions, we begin to return to the usual socialization, but we are all affected by the social distancing and now we learn to re-identify and realize ourselves as part of society.
The residence will take place in two stages: at first, artists will meet in Lviv and during the festival „Kit Gavatovycha“ they will get familiar with local theaters and practices.
During 5 days of work from 1st to 5th of September, residents will create a theatrical product – it may be a performance, a brief play, a happening, which will be presented at the festival in a creative space of the former tram depot LEM Station.
The second stage is a meeting of residents in Berlin, where they will also spend 5 days in the atmosphere of the city’s theatrical life and will create a performance, which will be presented to the residents and guests of Berlin.

Residenzthema: „Identität“.
In Pandemiezeiten ist die Frage der Selbstidentifikation als Teil der Gesellschaft relevant geworden. Dank der Lockerung der Quarantänebeschränkungen beginnen wir, zur üblichen Sozialisation zurückzukehren, aber wir sind alle von der sozialen Distanzierung betroffen und lernen nun, uns als Teil der Gesellschaft neu zu identifizieren und zu erkennen.
Die Theaterresidenz findet in zwei Etappen statt: Zunächst treffen sich Künstler*innen in Lviv und während des Festivals „Kit Gavatovycha“ lernen sie lokale Theater und Praktiken kennen.
Während 5 Arbeitstagen vom 1. bis 5. September erarbeiten die Residenten ein Theaterprodukt – es kann eine Performance, ein kurzes Theaterstück oder ein Happening sein, das beim Festival in einem kreativen Raum des ehemaligen Straßenbahndepots LEM Station vorgestellt wird .
Die zweite Etappe ist ein Treffen der Residenten in Berlin, bei dem sie ebenfalls 5 Tage in der Atmosphäre des Berliner Theaterlebens verbringen und eine Performance kreieren, die den Einwohnern und Gästen Berlins vorgestellt wird.
