About the film:
The film accompanies women who have been in prison for years as murderers or manslayers. Some of them became mothers behind the prison bars. Their children also stay in prison until they are three years old, then the course is set. Either the mothers are pardoned or their children are placed with relatives. Otherwise, the only option is the orphanage. In a barely resolvable mixture of documentary and fictional scenes, with actual prisoners and actresses, we get incredibly close to the stumbled women. Their children grow up in front of the camera; the film was shot over a period of years.
After the film we will speak about the film and situation in Ukraine with ukrainian journalist Nadia Kulish.
The screening takes place as part of the project about human rights and Ukraine „Film Focus: Menschenrechte und die Ukraine“ supported by Berliner Landeszentrale für politische Bildung.
We will be happy to see you all again in the cinema!
Warm regards,
Your Cinemova Team!
